Copper+Eucalyptus+Orange Tree

It seems like every year when Christmas comes, I want to buy new different ornaments. It makes it so special to have new items on the tree mixed with ones that are years old and filled with nostalgia. This year, I told myself I wouldn't buy anything new and that I had to think of things I already had and make them new. I ended up using dried oranges, cinnamon sticks, bare copper wire, and eucalyptus.  All things I weirdly had, but you could also use string, bakers twine, or any bloom you even find outside.

Straight copper bare wire turned from this:

I think it's safe to talk about my obsession for metals. I love this exposed wire mixed with copper details. SO lovely to my eyes.

It's a week before Christmas and I finally got it decorated. Classic. Lue woke up at 5:00am this morning and we plowed through the piles of dirty dishes while listening to Christmas music and taking breaks to eat waffles and bananas. I've been having her "help" do dishes lately and she is obsessed with standing at the kitchen sink on top of the aluminum step stool and "helping".  The sun was just rising when I finished and it seemed like one of those extremely long, but slow and beautiful mornings.

Tree topper made of dried orange, eucalyptus and cinnamon!

I love when you can see the trunk of Christmas trees! Favorite element for sure, and seems to give off a minimalist feel.

I found this metal base a few years ago at an Estate Sale in Edina. One of my favorite Christmas items for sure. I wonder what it's history is.

Finished and super simple this year. I wish I could leave it up all year. Our living room smells overwhelmingly like pine, eucalyptus, orange and cinnamon. YES to this. There are so many fun ideas that would be great to try, like drying out blueberries and making garland from them. Or experimenting with different fruits, cotton blooms, or foraged items from Fall and saving them til winter for tree decor. The possibilities are bountiful!

Merry (crazy week before) Christmas!
