Organic Play Dough

This summer I finally made homemade play dough! It was one of those projects that seemed really hard to me, like something only really crazy organized Moms can do and I was surprised that it was so simple. Lue was obsessed and we packed it all up and headed to the community garden to play and the small little jars made it easy to pack up and gift and give away to her little friend.

Best, most easiest recipe from You can find the full tutorial there and she lays it out nicely. I changed out a few of the coloring seasoning ideas and added poppy seeds for one which was really magical and Lue loved the sweet little dots.

Dough Recipe:
1 cup flour
1/2 cup salt
2 teaspoons cream of tarter
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 cup naturally colored water (we used fresh boiled beet water)
Optional adding in essential oils for fragrance. I brewed chamomile tea and used the steeped water as a base with lavender essential oil.

Cannot get over this glorious color. The best pink beet tones.

1. Mix flour, salt, and cream of tarter in medium sized pot
2. Add oil and colored water and stir until ingredients are well blended
3. Place pot on the stove over low/medium heat. Cook the dough, stirring often, until it begins to pull away from the sides and look a little sticky.
4. Allow the dough to cool a little and then knead for a minute or so.
5. Store in an airtight container. Top with a floral. :)!

Super easy and I'm pretty sure Lue thought I was a way cooler and more organized Mom than I am.
