Citrus Holiday Garland!

This is one of our family traditions we started when Max and I first got married and one year it ended up being the only thing we decorated our tree with. So simple and fresh and easily carried through the holiday season and into the New Year. A lot of people do this, and my recipe is far from original, but here's my take on the way to display it all in home. Slice oranges, grapefruit, limes or lemons in thin pieces. Lay out flat on baking sheet and bake on 200 degrees for 5 hours. Flip halfway through! Check for any moisture and make sure they are fully dry.

I ended up baking these on a day with my other holiday cookies so it seemingly felt like my oven was on all day. A good ol' good deydrator works for this too. Some weeks it seems like I'd prefer metal tools and copper wire to a sewing needle and thread, so I always use a thin copper metal from the hardware store to create sweet little custom copper hooks. Pinch the end and bend to size. SO many uses for a small little spool of copper. We hang these all over our tree and on a line of string with some fresh Norfolk pine and bright colored bulbs! I love the tones that come through, especially with the grapefruit. It's a perfect pink, festive and bright for a home of little girls.
